How to stay motivated and productive during the Quarantine ?

The quarantine has all of us sitting at home with our laptops and although working from home is a privileged we should all be grateful for, there are a few productivity and motivation tips that we could all use. Working from home isn’t exactly the vacation most of us think it is. It means avoiding distraction from family, room-mates and pets. It also means getting out of our heads and being more accountable about how we spend our time.

If you are someone who worked from home and now has to entertain everyone else working from home or you are new to working from home altogether; here are a few tips to get you out of a funk and keep you productive.

Business hours

There is something about staying at home and continuing about your day like its a vacation. It’s not. It a break from the chaos of society that we all needed, but work doesn’t stop. And to be the most productive possible you must capitalize on the daylight and business hours. Wake up early, get your workouts in, make yourself a hearty breakfast, fix your appearance and then get working. the quarantine is no reason to delay tasks and procrastinate over assignments. The more you let yourself go during this time, the more you are going to regret wasting this once to get on top of all the tasks that we’ve been avoiding because we did not have enough time for. An example of this can be language lessons, staring a blog, or simply just cleaning your backyard. All of these tasks are well within reach if you get serious and stop wasting time.

Limit the News

The current situation is not as such that you can bury your head in the sand and continue about your day. A significant amount of news and updates especially regarding health and safety enforcement are important. You need to know what is going on in the world in times of uncertainty but you don’t need to overburden yourself with it. The News is quite depressing at the moment and too much of it can spark your stress levels and lead to a state of apathy which nobody needs especially in a time of self-isolation. Physical health is important but the most vulnerable right now is global mental health. Minimising on the news can help you stay grounded and focused on what can be controlled instead of wasting precious time worrying about things that are not within our reach.

Eat clean

As we are talking about mental health and things that we can control, one thing that goes without saying is being more conscious about the kind of food we consume and we in general put in our body, Restricting unhealthy foods such as junk is very important. Although so many people are stocking up on junk food and snacks, we recommend eating more home-cooked meals during this time as it will boost your overall immunity. We understand that not everyone went into self-isolation a master chef and some of us are just living in dorms and have nothing but cooking ramen within our expertise.
